Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Arkhetia is a place to understand yourself — and that only works if it is genuinely private. People speak honestly only in a space they trust. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the commitments we make to you. We have tried to keep it honest and free of the usual fog.
Our commitment
Privacy is not a feature we bolted onto Arkhetia; it is a precondition for what Arkhetia is. So we hold to a few principles, and the rest of this document is simply the detail behind them: we collect as little as we can; we run our own infrastructure rather than handing your sessions to a third-party cloud; we use AI providers whose terms forbid training on your words; and we never sell what you write — to anyone, in any form.
Where your sessions live
Arkhetia remembers the thread of your reflection between visits — that continuity is much of its value, which means your sessions have to be stored somewhere. Rather than entrust them to a large consumer platform, we run our own database on infrastructure we operate and control, hosted in the European Union. Your account and your sessions stay there.
1. Information we collect
Account information. Your email address when you sign up — and, if you use Google sign-in, the basic profile information Google shares to authenticate you.
Session content. The messages you write during a session and the responses generated, so the Service can work and your reflection can continue where you left off.
Technical data. The minimum needed to run the Service securely — for example, request logs and your language preference.
Not collected: payment details. We never see or store your card number. Payments are handled by our payment provider, who acts as merchant of record.
2. How we use your information
We use your information only to provide and operate Arkhetia: to maintain your account and the continuity of your sessions, to process subscriptions, to keep the Service secure, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not use your session content for advertising, and we do not build a marketing profile of you.
3. AI processing of your sessions
To generate a response, the content of your session is sent to the AI providers that power Arkhetia — currently Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI — acting only as our processors. They use it to produce your reply and for nothing else. We deliberately choose providers whose terms do not train their models on submitted content, so your words are not used to train AI.
Your account identity stays separate from what the AI sees: your account name and email are never sent to the AI provider — only the words of the session itself. One exception you control: if you set a session name and enable it in Settings, that chosen name (and nothing else) is included so the AI can address you.
4. Third-party services
We rely on a small, deliberate set of providers, each processing only what is needed for its role: the AI providers above (to generate responses); our hosting and database infrastructure, which we operate ourselves in the EU; an email service for account messages such as password resets; and our payment provider, who processes subscriptions as merchant of record so that card data never reaches us.
Voice input, if you use it, is transcribed by your device's own dictation, not by us: on the web, your browser hands the audio to your operating system's speech service (Apple or Google) purely to turn it into text; in our mobile app, transcription runs on your device. Either way, the audio itself is never sent to our servers, never stored by us, and never used to train AI — only the resulting text enters your session, exactly as if you had typed it.
5. We never sell your sessions
We do not sell, rent, or license your sessions or personal data — not in identifiable form, and not as "anonymized" or aggregated datasets either. What you write is not a product we trade. It exists to serve your reflection, and nothing else. There is no clause further down that quietly takes this back.
6. Security
Data you exchange with Arkhetia is protected in transit with strong encryption (TLS). Access to the systems that hold your data is restricted, and we follow the principle of collecting and exposing as little as possible. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat the sensitivity of what you share here as the standard we design to.
7. Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and session data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time — by asking us, or through your account once deletion is available there. Deleted data is removed from our systems, allowing for a short recovery window for backups. We retain only what the law genuinely requires us to keep (for example, basic records for tax compliance).
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to export it, to delete it, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, just write to us at the address below.
9. Children
Arkhetia is intended for adults (18 and over), and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Arkhetia evolves. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know rather than change it quietly.
11. Contact
For any privacy question or request, write to us at [email protected]. A real person will read it.
